Wild Camps
Taking Place at Mossom Creek Hatchery, Port Moody — Home of the Salmon
Summer Camp 2026
-
Our summer camps take place at Mossom Creek Hatchery in Port Moody, where children spend their days exploring the forest, creek, and salmon habitat.
This year, we are introducing theme-based weeks, allowing children to dive deeper into topics such as wildlife, survival skills, plants, birds, and salmon ecosystems.
We are now welcoming children from Kindergarten to Grade 5. With our small group sizes and low ratios, we create a supportive environment where every child can learn, explore, and feel confident in the outdoors.
Some weeks will also include guest specialists, adding unique hands-on learning experiences.

FAQs

Our camps are designed for children in Kindergarten to Grade 3, but if your child is just outside this range, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to chat.
Children must be 5 years old on the first day of camp to participate. For children who are entering Kindergarten in September, this means they would need to have already turned 5 before their camp week.

All programs are led by experienced forest school practitioners. Simona (founder of Salmon Forest) and her team are certified, trained in first aid, and carry bear spray and safety gear. Our ratio is low to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Then we play in the rain! Unless there is unsafe weather (like high winds or lightning), the program continues outdoors. Children are taught how to dress appropriately and learn the joy of all-weather adventure.
-
Our activities often include stories from Indigenous authors, teachings about local plants and animals, and a respectful understanding of the land we’re learning on. These teachings are shared thoughtfully and age-appropriately.
-
We have access to both an indoor washroom and an outhouse near the Education Centre. When we're deep in the forest, we use a designated nature pee area where children are gently guided on how to go safely and respectfully in nature.
It’s a normal part of forest life, and we make sure kids feel comfortable, private, and safe. Many actually find it fun! We recommend packing extra clothes just in case — it's all part of the adventure.

We offer a full refund if you cancel at least one month before the program start date, minus a $30 administration fee. Cancellations made less than one month in advance are non-refundable, as we prepare and staff based on registered participants.
